Kuopio (FIN) is, after Kranj and Wisla, the third
stop of the Continental Cup this summer. The first
competition on the famous hill at the Puijo ended
with a success for the strong Slovenian team.
Cene Prevc, who was on the podium in three of the
four competitions recently, showed the best performance
on Saturday evening and took his second win in the
Continental Cup with 130.5 m and 122 m and 237.6
points.
Miran Zupancic scored a total of 227.9 points with
his jumps on 123 m and 124.5 m and secured the double
victory for the team of Slovenia in second.
Germany's Stephan Leyhe, sixth after his first jump
on 122 m, improved his performance in the final
and with 125 m he moved up to third overall (225.3
points). For the 22-year-old this was the first
podium finish in the COC in a bit over a year, the
third of his career.
Anze Semenic in fourth and Andraz Pograjc in sixth
completed yet another great team result for the
Slovenes in the so-called "second division"
of ski jumping. Junior World Champion Jakub Wolny
was the best Pole in fifth, his teammate Stefan
Hula came in seventh.
Behind Danny Queck (GER) in eighth, also the young
Germans Paul Winter and Tim Fuchs achieved Top 10
results. An especially remarkable performance as
the 16- and 17-year-olds were competing in the COC
for the first time.
Olli Muotka, who won two FIS Cup competitions on
the last two days in Kuopio, was the best Finn today
as well, but this time he came in only 15th.
With his win today Cene Prevc extended his lead
in the overall ranking. With 383 points he now leads
ahead of Miran Zupancic (263 points) and Peter Prevc
(200 points).
