Koudelka and Kozisek win, Borek Sedlak makes final jump

The Czech ski jumpers started their summer season with a special event in Lomnice nad Popelkou, the home town of Roman Koudelka and Cestmir Kozisek.

And the two local heroes shared the win on their home hill with 144.5 points. Roman Koudelka showed jumps on 68 m and 76.5 m, Cestmir Kozisek landed at 70.5 m and 74 m. The third place went to nordic combined athlete Tomas Portyk (68 m and 73 m; 141.5 points) and Lukas Hlava (69.5 m and 72 m; 141.5 points). Barbora Blazkova was the best of the ladies and finished 20th (61 m and 60 m).

"The goal here was to have fun. I enjoyed it, but I was also nervous because the people were expecting long jumps", said Roman Koudelka. His teammate Cestmir Kozisek was a bit more relaxed: "It's always cool here. The point is to entertain the audience and ourselves. It's not a competition, it's fun."

Final jump of Borek Sedlak

Besides an autograph signing between the two rounds, the farewell jump of Borek Sedlak was another highlight of this event. The 33-year-old, who announced his retirement after last season, showed a final jump on 67 m. "I appreciate this event. There were a lot of spectators and people from the ski jumping community and they made it a really nice ending of my career. Thanks a lot for that. It crossed my mind, that it is my last jump. But things are always coming to an end in life. I'm okay with that and now I'm looking foward to new things."
