Janne Ahonen continues his career for a few more years
Janne Ahonen - FIS
Finnish ski jumping legend Janne Ahonen wants to continue his career for a few more years and it even seems possible that he will also participate in the next Olympic Winter Games.
A special motivation to make this decision was probably the fact that the Nordic Ski World Championships will be held in his home town three years from now. "I will definitely continue jumping until the World Championships in Lahti 2017", the five-time 4-Hills-Tournament winner is quoted on iltalehti.fi.
If Janne Ahonen would then also compete in the Winter Games in Pyeongchang a year later at age 40, he would be the first Finnish athlete to take part in seven Olympic Winter Games.
Noriaki Kasai might serve as a role model for the 36-year-old in this task. The Japanese won Silver on the large hill and bronze with the team in Sochi this February and became the oldest Olympic medalist in ski jumping at age 41.
