Martin Koch and Bjoern Einar
Romoeren to Harrachov
The two ski flying specialists Martin Koch and Bjoern
Einar Romoeren will get the chance to show their
skills at the ski flying World Championships in
Harrachov (CZE) next weekend.
Martin Koch was named to the Austrian Team together
with Gregor Schlierenzauer, Thomas Diethart, Stefan
Kraft and Michael Hayboeck. Andreas Kofler also
had a good chance to get nominated, but he decided
against competing there despite his good performances
recently.
"For me it's important to end this season with
a positive feeling and that's why I want to prepare
myself for the final World Cup competitions in Planica",
Andreas Kofler explains his decision. "Andi
Kofler made a clear decision that we have to accept
and respect. Concerning the fifth athlete on our
team we were also thinking about Manuel Poppinger,
who was doing well in the ski flying event in Bad
Mitterndorf but he had some ups and downs recently.
And so we decided in favor of Martin Koch, who will
be our joker and he will also bring a lot of experience
to the team", said head coach Alexander Pointner.
Bjoern Einar Romoeren earned his spot on the Norwegian
team for the ski flying World Championships in the
last minute with a win at the Continental Cup in
Zakopane on Sunday.
The 32-year-old showed a very good performance in
Poland with a seventh and firth place and is on
the Norwegian team of head coach Alexander Stoeckls
with Anders Bardal, Andreas Stjernen, Tom Hilde,
Anders Fannemel and Rune Velta.
