COC: Daniel Wenig and Susanna Forsstroem win in Falun

Daniel Wenig of Germany took his first win this winter on Sunday in Falun ahead of Rok Justin and Stefan Hayboeck. The best in the ladies' competition were Susanna Forsstroem, Nina Lussi and Nita Englund.

After his third place on Saturday, Daniel Wenig laid the foundation for this success already in the first round. With 94.5 m he was in the lead ahead of his teammate Danny Queck. He then secured the win with a jump on 94 m in the final and 245.8 points. Queck could not repeat his performance of the first round in the second jump and came in eleventh.

Only 0.8 points Wenig, the second place went to Rok Justin. The winner of Saturday's competition could again show a top performance with 92 m and 94 m. 

Austrian Stefan Hayboeck was sixth after the first round with 90.5 m, with his second jump on 94 m (239.8 points) he moved up to third and achieved a podium result for the first time this winter.

Tom Hilde could further improve his seventh place in Saturday's competition and so the weekend in Falun ended with a fourth place for him. The Norwegian missed the Top 3 by the tiny margin of only 0.2 points.

Pius Paschke of Germany and Slovenia's Cene Prevc shared the fifth place. Markus Eisenbichler and Stephan Leyhe in eighth and ninth provided a good reusult for the Germans. 

The good performance of the Austrian team today was completed by Daniel Huber (7th) and Elias Tollinger (10th).

Nejc Dezman (731 points), Manuel Fettner (723 points) and Karl Geiger (579 points), who are all competing in the World Cup in Lahti this weekend, remain in the Top 3 positions of the overall ranking also after the competitions in Falun.

Forsstroem wins ladies' competition

Susanna Forsstroem of Finland, who was sixth on Saturday and lost her chances to achieve a better result with a fall in the first round, improved on Sunday and took her first win in the Continental Cup with 83 m and 85.5 m (190.1 points).

Nina Lussi, who celebrated her first win yesterday, again showed a consistent performance and finished second with two jumps on 82 m and 186.8 points. 

With Nita Englund, who jumped on 80.5 m and 81.5 m and scored 179.6 points, also the third place went to the USA. Like winner Forsstroem, she could also achieve her first ever podium result in the COC.

The fourth place in this competition went to Wendy Vuik of the Netherlands. Norwegian Karoline Roestad was fifth, followed by the two Polish jumpers Joanna Szwab and Magdalena Palasz.

Nina Lussi leads the overall ranking of the COC with 298 points, ahead of Susanna Forsstroem (257 points) and Juliane Seyfarth (251 points).
