Eric Frenzel made Nordic Combined history and added another big title to his growing collection of achievements. The German was uncontested in the traditional Nordic Combined event with two jumps and 15 kilometres of cross-country skiing.

Frenzel crossed the finish 21.2 seconds ahead of Norwegian veteran Haavard Klemetsen. Rank three went to Klemetsen's teammate Magnus Moan who finished 29.1 seconds after the winner.

In the ski jumping part, the two jumps changed yesterday's intermediate results quite a bit in favour of the strong jumpers. After the first jump, Frenzel was still in the lead with a total of 125.4 points over Klemetsen who rose to a second place again with a great jump of 107.5 metres, almost 10 metres longer than Frenzel's 98 metres. Johannes Rydzek held onto a third rank with 99.5 metres.

In the second round of jumping, Klemetsen took back the intermediate lead in the TRIPLE with another great jump of 104 metres. With 258.1 points, he lead the field into the cross-country race with an advantage of 10 seconds over Frenzel. Frenzel jumped 102 metres in the second round and put a comfortable cushion of 1:02 between himself and the closest pursuer, teammate Tino Edelmann. On the intermediate fourth rank, Rydzek started the race 1:31 behind Klemetsen.

Frenzel was able to close the gap on Klemetsen very quickly. When Klemetsen's pole broke some minutes later, the Norwegian was not able to hold onto Frenzel anymore and had to let the German go. The race then turned into a victory parade for Frenzel who had numerous supporters from his hometown in Austria and after his sixth win in Seefeld also developed into a crowd favourite being celebrated on the track by all of the 17.500 spectators of the weekend. Frenzel skied an uncontested victory into the finish.

Behind him, the fight for the other two podium positions was on. Klemetsen held onto his second rank and held off fellow Norwegian Magnus Moan who in turn was able to shake of Rydzek and Tino Edelmann with whom he had skied together for most of the race. In the end, Rydzek ended up fourth, Bryan Fletcher improved to a fifth and Edelmann was sixth. Also entering the Top Ten were Alessandro Pittin and Mikko Kokslien, who had the second-fastest and fastest cross-country times, improving intermediate 17th and 23rd ranks after the ski jumping into final seventh and tenth ranks.

The Nordic Combined family now travels to Oberstdorf for one more World Cup weekend before the Olympics in Sochi are on.
