Sara Takanashi also won the second ladies' World Cup competition in Sapporo, Japan. The overall World Cup leader, who took her sixth win in the seventh competition this season, scored a total of 240.1 points with her jumps on 97 m and 91 m and had a clear lead of 20.3 points over second-placed French Coline Mattel. The third of last season's overall World Cup achieved her first podium finish of the Olympic season with 90 m and 91 m.

Today's winner was happy about the result and additionally motivated by the success of Noriaki Kasai: ”It was snowing very heavily today and the wind conditions were changing. I’m very happy that I could win here for the second time. My jumps today were good, but the snow was very soft, so I was afraid to land with a telemark. The people preparing the hill had a very hard work today. After I heard about Noriaki Kasai’s win I felt that I have to work even harder.”

”I’m pretty satisfied, because this is my first podium of the season. It shows that my jumping is getting better and that the work that I did at the begining of the season pays off. I have to continue training so that I can fight for the first place in the next events. Today’s conditions were pretty equal for everybody. My second jump was a bit better, but both jumps were good", said Coline Mattel, who will not compete in Zao next week.

he third place went to Russian Irina Avvakumova with 215.3 points (91 m and 87.5 m), her sixth podium result in a row.  Like Mattel, she also decided to end the trip to Japan early: ”My jumps were really good today and I’m happy with another podium place. The conditions were not difficult, felt like I would be jumping at home. I don’t reget that I will not compete in Zao. I prefer to have a good training in Oberstdorf and prepare for the Olympics in Sochi."

anadian Atsuko Tanaka missed the podium by only 0.1 points and achieved her best result this winter in fourth with 85 m and 91.5 m. US American Lindsey Van, 14th after the first round, came in fifth with 214.2 points, marking a season best for her. 2.2 points behind Van, Maja Vtic was the best Slovene in sixth, followed by Jessica Jerome. Yuki Ito, second after the first round, finished eighth with 209.2 points. After her eighth place on Saturday, Katharina Althaus could again show a good performance and was ninth, Ulrike Graessler achieved a season best tenth place. Carina Vogt, second in the overall World Cup, came in 13th this time, after a fall and place 25 in the first round.

With Alissa Johnson in 14th yet another athlete was able to achieve a season best and she also completed a very good team result for the USA. Daniela Iraschko-Stolz will not be completely satisfied with her 15th place. Once again Bigna Windmueller was the best Swiss in 16th, Julia Kykkaenen of Finland was 19th. Best Italian was Evelyn Insam in 22nd, her teammate Elena Runggaldier was 30th.
