Finnish team: training camp in Levi
- Nordic Combined Finland
The Alpine World Cup will stop in Levi, Finland
for its next races this upcoming weekend but the
slalom specialists are not the only ones making
a stop in Lapland: the Finnish Nordic Combined team
with head coach Petter Kukkonen was on location
for a first skiing camp on snow. The national team
trained in Levi for the first time, a welcome break
to other traditional preparation sites like Rovaniemi
where the Polish, Japanese or Estonian teams gear
up for the first World Cup competition in Kuusamo
in a little over two weeks.
In addition to the daily cross-country training,
the team spent some time with specific training
for jumping, playing volleyball and weight training
sessions. Special attention went to smaller technical
details and elasticity as team member Eetu Va"ha"so"yrinki
explains.
Team shooting star Ilkka Herola approves: "The
camp training was no longer 'as usual'. We did some
basic training and prepared for the race season.
Everybody worked on their own personal programs
and the camp went very well. We can go on with confidence
now."
