Eleven Polish ski jumpers, Kamil Stoch, Piotr Zy?a,
Maciej Kot, Dawid Kubacki, Krzysztof Mietus, Stefan
Hula, Jan Ziobro, Klemens Muranka, Bartlomiej Klusek,
Krzysztof Biegun and Aleksander Zniszczol, travelled
to the seaside resort of Dubrovnik.
It has been a tradition in the last couple of years,
that before the start of the winter season, the
Polish ski jumping team travels to some warmer parts
of Europe in search of the sun. As Lukasz Kruczek,
the head coach of the team confirms, despite a relaxed
atmosphere there has never been any problems regarding
the realisation of the training program. An important
element of these camps is always team building as
well.
There’s been no difference in this respect this
time either. On top of some well tested training
routines, like playing volleyball, floorball or
soccer, along with regular strength and motoric
exercises and tests, there was time for relaxation
and rest. There were enough opportunities to do
sports that normally are not part of a ski jumper’s
training – playing tennis, kayaking, rock climbing
or fishing.
Piotr Zyla shared some of his impressions about
the camp with us: "The camp was all very active,
we have managed to carry out all the planned sessions
and trainings. Now we are ready for the hills. There
were plenty of attractions as well, today we have
done some kayaking and it was all fun. I also managed
to do some jumps, I did jump off a pretty nice cliff
today."
The Polish jumpers are returning back home in a
good mood and ready to start the last phase of preparations
for the Olympic season. After a few days at home,
the team is going to Obertsdorf, where they will
start jumping on the ice track.
The 2013/14 World Cup season will start with the
competitions in Klingethal (GER). The team event
will be carried out on November 23rd, the individual
event on the HS 140 hill will be held the next day.
