New German summer nationals
winners: Johannes Rydzek and Riessle & Faisst
Johannes Rydzek and the Team Baden-Wu"rttemberg
consisting of Fabian Rie?le and Manuel Fai?t claimed
the German national titles in the championships
in Oberstdorf this year.
The individual competition took place on the German
national holiday, October 3rd, and saw a jumping
victory of young talent and Alpen Cup winner Terence
Weber. With 135,9 points, the 17-year-old youngster
went out on the 10 kilometres of roller-skiing through
the city of Oberstdorf with a headstart of 23 seconds
on Philipp Blaurock. Johannes Rydzek ranked third
at the intermediate point with a time disadvantage
of 45 seconds - no problem for the local hero starting
for the ski club Oberstdorf who has also won at
least one international summer competition in his
home town for the last four years in a row.
As early as in the second round, Rydzek overtook
Blaurock and Weber and never gave the victory out
of his hands afterwards. National teammates Fabian
Riessle and Manuel Faisst showed a strong cross-country
performance and improved from a seventh and fifth
rank to podium places two and three. Terence Weber
managed to hold on to a strong fourth rank and claimed
the junior title with this result.
In Friday's Team Sprint, Team Baden-Wu"rttemberg
consisting of Manuel Faisst and Fabian Rie?le took
the title. The duo had already been in the lead
with four seconds of headstart after the jumping
part after setting two jumps of 98,5 and 101 metres
which accumulated 245,5 points. Thuringia's Philipp
Blaurock & Johannes Firn ranked second, Daniel
Welde and Eric Frenzel, competing for Saxonia followed
on the intermediate third rank.
On the 2 x 7,5 kilometres or roller-skiing, Fai?t/Rie?le
were able to break away form their followers on
the third lap while the fight for the other podium
positions was definitely on. Thursday's winner Johannes
Rydzek once again showed a strong skiing performance
and was able to conquer the third rank during the
second lap of the race. In the second-but-last lap,
Blaurock/Firn were not able to keep up with the
other leading teams anymore so that the end result
said Rie?le/Fai?t first, 49,4 second ahead of Rydzek/Lange
and a third place for Welde/Frenzel (+1:08,9).
