Eric Frenzel nominated for
"Champion of the Year" award

German Nordic Combined sensation Eric Frenzel has
been nominated for the German "Champion des
Jahres" award which will be given out on the
upcoming Wednesday. As a special feature of this
award, the Champion of the Year will not be chosen
by the general public or journalists but by their
fellow sportsmen. 142 athletes who have won medals
in this year's season highlights of their respective
disciplines were eligible in the pre-election and
all of the about 1800 athletes who are supported
by the Deutsche Sporthilfe had the right to vote.
Next to Eric, German pole-jumper Raphael Holzdeppe,
javelin thrower Christina Obergfo"ll, Verena
Hantl (Kajak) and Sascha Klein & Patrick Hausding
(synchronised diving) were nominated in the pre-election.
All nominated athletes are invited for a week of
vacation in the southern Italian region of Apulia
now and on Wednesday, the Champion of the Year will
be named on location. If Eric wins, he can look
forward to a new car (Smart) and a dream vacation
at any place he would like to name.
