COC: Piotr Zyla takes home win

After the win in the first competition in Wisla on Friday evening went to Slovenia, the Polish team fought back on Saturday. A total of six jumpers of the hosts could achieve a Top 10 result under mid-summer conditions on the Adam-Malysz-hill.

Piotr Zyla, who finished second twice in Wisla recently, in the Grand Prix and the COC, took a clear win in front of his home crowd with consistently strong jumps on 128 m in both round and 249.5 points.

"I'm happy that I could win. Yesterday I was second, but today is my day. It's nice to win, especially in my home town. I waited a long time to win and so I'm very happy now", told the winner.

Mitja Meznar was in the lead after the first round, at the end the Slovene came in second with 121.5 m and 123.5 m and 234.1 points. This was his best result in the Continental Cup in more than two years. "I had to wait a long time to be on the podium, now I'm satisfied and happy", said Meznar, who really enjoyed jumping in Wisla. "Polish fans are the best. I hope I can come back here soon and jump in front of this crowd."

Jan Ziobro of Poland, sixth with his first jump on 121.5 m, captured the third place weith 120.5 m in the final and 233.2 points. Closely followed by his teammates Jakub Wolny (4th), Krzysztof Biegun (5th) and Dawid Kubacki (6th). After the competition Ziobro was happy about his improvement compared to last week: "I'm satisfied, my jumps are getting better. I also jumped better than in the Grand Prix."

Behind Daniel Wenig, who repeated his seventh place from Friday's competition and was once again the best German, the fantastic result of the Polish team was completed by Krzysztof Leja in eighth.

With Kenshiro Ito in ninth and Clemens Aigner in tenth, also the teams of Japan and Austria were represented in the Top 10 in the final event of this weekend in Poland.

Cene Prevc, the winner of Friday's competition, was only 25th after the first round and could move up to 12th with his great final jump on 129 m.

Three Slovenes are still leading the overall ranking of the Continental Cup after the first four competitions this summer. Cene Prevc is firth with 282 points, ahead of his brother Peter (200 points) and Miran Zupancic (183 points).
