Rune Velta wins "Sommerhoppuke 2014"

For the Norwegian ski jumpers the summer competition season started once again with the traditional "Sommerhoppuke" (summer jumping week). The events took place in Drammen, Oslo and Lillehammer on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The win in the first competition on the K74 in Drammen went to Phillip Sjoeen with 242.2 points (75 m and 82 m), ahead of Rune Velta (74 m and 78 m; 235.2 points) and Tom Hilde (74 m and 75 m; 226.6 points). Anders Fannemel was in the lead after the first round, but could not defend this position in the final and finished fourth with 225.3 points.

On Saturday, Anders Fannemel then won the competition on the Midtstuebakken in Oslo with jumps on 107.5 m and 103 m (277.1 points). Phillip Sjoeen showed another strong performance and moved up from fifth to second with the best jump in the final round (100.5 m and 104 m; 269.9 points). The third place went to Rune Velta with his total of 269.4 points (101 m and 103.5 m).

Anders Bardal achieved his first podium result in this series' finale competition in Lillehammer. The fourth of last winter's overall World Cup won with 266.7 points. Once again Rune Velta (262.6 points) and Phillip Sjoeen (252.1 points) posted some strong jumps and came in second and third.

With two second and one third place in the three events, Rune Velta was the best in the overall ranking of the "Sommerhoppuke" with a total of 767.2 points, close ahead of youngster Phillip Sjoeen (764.2 points) and Anders Bardal (747.3 points).

In the ladies' competitions, Line Jahr took two clear wins in the first two events. In Drammen she won with 218.3 points ahead of Maren Lundby (189.6 points) and Gyda Enger (165.7 points). In Oslo Line Jahr was the best with 215.0 points, followed by Gyda Enger (165.7 points) and Maren Lundby (155.0 points). In the final in Lillehammer Maren Lundby took the win with 197.6 points), ahead of Line Jahr (190.6 points) and Gyda Enger (154.9 points).
