Mikhail Maksimochkin won both titles at the Russian
National Championships this weekend in Nizhniy Tagil.
The big favorite Irina Avvakumova won the ladies'
competition.
In the opening event of the Championships Mikhail
Maksimochkin took a clear win in the normal hill
competition with jumps on 102.5 m and 93 m and a
total of 255.5 points. With 96.5 m and 89 m (238.5
points) the second place went to Ilmir Hazetdinov.
Anton Kalinitschenko (96 m and 88.5 m) and Alexey
Romashov (92.5 m and 92 m) shared the third place
with 236.0 points.
The competition on the large hill on Sunday was
a lot closer. Maksimochkin won his second title
with 134.5 m and 122.5 m and 261.1 points. Denis
Kornilov, fifth after the first round with 128.5
m, showed the best performance in the final with
129.5 m and moved up to second, only 0.2 points
behind the winner. Ilmir Hazetdinov achieved his
second podium result in third with 251.1 points.
Irina Avvakumova won the ladies' competition on
the normal hill with jumps on 92.5 m and 90 m and
229.5 points, ahead of Aleksandra Kustova (89 m
and 87 m; 215.5 points) and Anastasiya Gladysheva
(83 m and 87 m; 201.0 points).
