With his second win this season, Kamil Stoch gave an early Christmas present to the Polish fans. In Engelberg (SUI) the overall World Cup leader beat Andreas Wellinger (GER) and yesterday's winner Jan Ziobro (POL). Despite his lead after the first round, record World Cup winner Gregor Schlierenzauer, missed the podium in fourth.

Stoch scored a total of 274.7 points with his jumps on 132 m and 130 m and had a lead of 3.9 points over Wellinger. The 18-year-old jumped on 131 m and 129.5 m. With 128 m, Ziobro was only eleventh after the first round, in the final he then posted the longest jump of the day with 133 m and missed  econd place by only 0.8 points.

It was easy to tell, that Stoch was pleased with his performance: "I'm very happy about the win and that I get to wear the yellow bib. I'm very proud to wear it after Adam Malysz. Adam was one of the greatest ski jumpers and athletes. I was already among the favorites for the 4-Hills-Tournament before this weekend, that's nothing new for me. I will now enjoy the break and then we'll be well prepared for the 4-hills-Tournament."

Wellinger was more optimistic again after today's result: "Today was definitely a lot better than yesterday for me. I had two good jumps and now I'm more than happy with second place. The pressure for the 4-Hills-Tournament is about the same as last year, because I was also second here back then. I like this hill, there's mostly tail wind. Now we won't jump until the 4-Hills-Tournament, it will be an exhausting trip and we want to be fit when it starts."

Meanwhile, Ziobro was also looking towards home: "I didn't feel too much pressure before today's competition. My take-off was not good in my first jump, in the second round everything was okay. After my win yesterday I spoke to my mother on the phone and she told me that a lot was going on in Poland."

With 133 m in the first round Schlierenzauer clearly improved his performance from his 27th place on Saturday. In the close final round, he jumped only 128.5 m and missed the podium by 1.6 points. Anders Bardal was fifth, 0.9 points behind Schlierenzauer, and once again the best Norwegian. But his time he was not the only one of his team among the best, Anders Fannemel also achieved a Top 10 result in seventh. Young Austrian Thomas Diethart was sixth, and together with Wolfgang Loitzl (9th), Stefan Kraft (13th) and Andreas Kofler (14th) he provided the best team result of Austria this season.

The Slovene team also showed improvement in the final competition before the 4-Hills-Tournament. Peter Prevc and Jaka Hvala were eighth and 12th and raised hopes for top results in the future. While this weekend wasn't that good for Severin Freund, with his fall on Saturday and the 22nd place on Sunday, his teammate Andreas Wank had his best result this season in tenth. Jakub Janda remained the best Czech as 15th, his shared this place with the surprisingly strong Russian Denis Kornilov.

The home events definitely didn't go as planned for Simon Ammann. He moved up to eleventh with a great final jump on Saturday, on Sunday it went the other way around. He was sixth after the first round and finished 20th. Roberto Dellasega (21st) and Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes (25th) scored some World Cup points for the teams of Italy and Canada. Janne Ahonen was 29th and the only Finn in the final round.

Before the start of the 4-Hills-Tournament next Saturday in Oberstdorf, Stoch extended his lead in the overall World Cup. With 410 points he now has a lead of 60 points over Schlierenzauer. After eight of 27 competitions Bardal is third, followed by Freund and Wellinger. Taku Takeuchi, who did not compete in Engelberg, is sixth. With his first and third place in Engelberg, Ziobro moved up to 11th.
