Klemens Muranka wins this summer's last qualification

Klemens Muranka of Poland won the qualification round in the Vogtland-Arena with a jump on 137 m and 139.1 points.

His teammate Dawid Kubacki jumped on meter farther than the 19-year-old, but under slightly better conditions, and so he came in second with 137.1 points. With 135.1 points, the third place went to Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes of Canada, who also posted a great jump with 135 m.

Andreas Wank closely missed the Top 3, he was the best German as fourth with 133.5 m (133.4 points). His two young teammates Marinus Kraus and Jan Maylaender also showed strong performances and came in seventh and ninth.

Gregor Schlierenzauer was by far the best Austrian in this qualification as fifth, right behind last winter's overall World Cup winner, Italian Roberto Dellasega surprised on a very good sixth place.

After a tenth months break due to a serious knee injury, Finland's Janne Happonen made his comeback on the international stage here in Klingenthal. With 126.5 m he was 22nd, one place behind his compatriot Janne Ahonen.

Martin Schmitt came in only 49th and was the only one of the 12 German jumpers who failed to make the cut for the home competition on Thursday. Also Manuel Fettner, Robert Kranjec and Jaka Hvala will only be spectators at the final event of the summer season.

The longest jump of the day was shown by the already pre-qualified Maciej Kot of Poland with 141 m. With this performance he was clearly the best of the Top 10 of the overall ranking. Andreas Wellinger followed mit 133.5 m, overall leader Jernej Damjan landed at 125 m.
