Only a short time after the Summer Grand Prix, the
Japanese team is back for a five-week training camp
in central Europe to get into shape for the important
Olympic season. After a performance test at the
Japanese Institute of Sports Sciences (JISS) on
September 17th, the team consisting of seven athletes
and four staff members, travelled to Oberstdorf
(18.9.-25.9.) as a first stage.
In Oberstdorf, the busy schedule contained jumping
and roller-ski training as well as power units,
but the team also visited a climbing facility where
they enjoyed slacklining, climbing and other fun
activities. In the brilliant autumn weather, Akito
Watabe and Co. also climbed the 2037 metre-high
Fellhorn. With some more jumping and roller-ski
sessions in sunny weather, the camp in Oberstdorf
concluded on a high note yesterday.
The next stops will be Oberhof (26.9-1.10.) where
some skiing on snow in the ski tunnel is on schedule.
After that, the trip continues on to the brand-new
hills in Planica (1.10.-5.10.), Nordic Combined
classic venue Ramsau (5.10.-15.10.) and will conclude
in Oberstdorf again (15.10.-21.10.) before the team
flies home to enjoy a couple of weeks in Japan before
the season starts at the end of November.
