The summer season of the Continental Cup ended on
Sunday with the second competition in Klingenthal.
Like on the day before, the competition was won
by Klemens Muranka of Poland, ahead of Roberto Dellasega
of Italy and Slovenia's Peter Prevc.
Klemens Muranka, who celebrated his first win in
the COC on Saturday, repeated this performance in
the second event in the Vogtland-Arena. The Pole
was seventh after the first round with 131 m, in
the final he then posted the longest jump of the
day with 144 m. The 19-year-old took today's win
with 274.0 points.
"I'm very happy about this weekend and my two
wins. I want to thank my coaches and the whole team",
said Muranka after a great weekend for him.
Roberto Dellasega, as eighth already among the best
yesterday, posted jumps on 129.5 m and 139.5 m (263.7
points), came in second and achieved his first ever
podium result in the Continental Cup.
Not only Muranka and Dellasega moved up in the second
round, also Peter Prevc improved his performance
in the final. After 127 m and the 15th place in
the first round, the Slovene jumped on 140 m in
the final round and came in third.
Prevc was followed by the best Germans. Markus Eisenbichler,
Marinus Kraus and Stephan Leyhe finished fourth,
fifth and sixth and closely missed another podium
result for the hosting team.
The seventh place went to the best Norwegian, Robert
Johansson, followed by Bartlomiej Klusek of Poland
(8th) and the best Austrian, Manuel Poppinger (9th).
With his fifth place today, Marinus Kraus of Germany
won the overall ranking of the COC this summer with
409 points. Jakub Janda (401 points) and Krzysztof
Biegun (292 points), who did not compete in Klingenthal
this weekend, are second and third.
"This overall title is very important for me.
Finishing first was my main goal for teh summer.
The COC is only the "second league", but
when you are on top here you can also achieve more",
said Kraus, who now hopes to get a chance to compete
in Klingenthal again in the Grand Prix early October.
