Gregor
Schlierenzauer, last winter's overall World Cup
winner, also leads in the current world ranking
list ahead of Kamil Stoch and Anders Bardal. So
the last season's Top 3 are also the the top athletes
in this latest ranking.
The Austrian, who didn't take part in
any competition so far this summer and therefore
couldn't score any points in the first period of
the 2013/14 season, leads this ranking with a total
of 1673 points.
The two gold medalists of the last World Championships
in Val di Fiemme, Kamil Stoch of Poland and Norwegian
Anders Bardal, are second and third with 1233 points
and 1119 points.
The points system of the world ranking list is the
same as for the World Cup, the results of the various
periods of the last year are gradually replaced
by the results of the periods of the current World
Cup season.
The world ranking list is also used to calculate
the starting quota for the next competition period.
Considering the standing of the current world ranking
list, the teams of the Czech Republic and Poland
have the maximum starting quota of seven athletes
for the upcoming period, that includes the Grand
Prix competitions in Nizhny Tagil, Almaty, Hinzenbach
and Klingenthal.
Austria, Germany, Norway and Slovenia have a starting
quota of six jumpers for the rest of the summer.
