Norway's Anders Jacobsen won
the most prestigious title in ski jumping, the Four
Hills after finishing second behind Austrian teenager
Gregor Schlierenzauer in Bischofshofen.
The junior world champion followed up his victory
in the opening event in Oberstdorf by thrilling
the home fans.
The 16-year-old produced an opening jump of 139.5m
to lead and kept his nerve with his second effort,
conjuring up a leap of 141m.
His total of 291.9 points was 2.8 better than Jacobsen
who followed up an opening jump of 137.5m with the
biggest of the day, 142m - a mere metre short of
Daiki Ito's hill record.
But Jacobsen who won on Thursday in Innsbruck and
finished fourth and fifth in the opening two legs
was rewarded for his consistency with Schlierenzauer's
11th place three days ago proving costly.
With 11m seperating the top seven in the overall
standings entering the biggest of the Four Hills
a shake-up was always likely with Schlierenzauer
climbing five places to finish second, 17 points
behind the winner, ahead of Switzerland's former
Olympic champion Simon Ammann who was third for
the second time in the tournament.
Dmitry Vassiliev showed a return to form to take
fourth while another Austrian teenager Arthur Pauli
produced a career-best sixth, behind Thomas Morgenstern
who finished fourth overall.
But three-time champion Janne Ahonen of Finland
completed a disappointing series with an 11th place
finish to end eighth overall.
