Austria's Christoph Bieler just
crossed the line ahead of Finland's Anssi Koivuranta
to win the Nordic Combined sprint in Lillehammer
on Sunday.
Originally scheduled as a 15km Gundersen event,
it was reduced to a 7.5 sprint after weather conditions
meant that only one round of ski-jumping could be
performed.
After the jumping it was another Norwegian, Petter
Tande, who led after a jump of 138.5m and he went
out eight seconds ahead of Koivuranta.
However, while Koivuranta maintained his podium
position, Tande struggled with his skiing and could
only finish seventh.
Bieler however, quickly started moving up the field
after being only fifth after the ski-jumping to
take the victory by just 1.2 seconds.
France's Maxime Laheurte finished third, while yesterday's
winner, Magnus Moan was fourth.
France's Jason Lamy-Chappuis of France completed
the top five.
